There isn't much known about the African Hairless Dog. Aside from the last of the African Hairless Dog that was found in the 1800s, another of the breed has not been found. But their bloodlines can be seen in many breeds of today, such as the Chinese Crested dog.

The African Hairless dog is not extinct. There are two breeders in the Western Cape province of South Africa, with different lines. We owned one of them until recently.
