The breed is a hybrid dog first bred in the United States during the 1950's by crossing an American or English Cocker Spaniel with a poodle. The average height of a Cockapoo is 10 to 15 inches and weighs 12 to 24 pounds. The cocker spaniel was first bred with a poodle to satisfy the want for the loving personality of a cocker spaniel, with the low-shedding, low-dander qualities of the poodle. The breed is very people oriented and does well around any child.
