Cretan Hound

Average: 5 (1 vote)

The breed is documented more than 3500 years ago where it originated in the Greek island of Crete, where it was used as a tracking and coursing hound. The Cretans treat the Cretan Hound almost as a royal secret, where the breed is well kept from public eye and rarely seen out of Crete unless in Athens, at an elite dog show. The small, healthy hound stands between 19 and 27 inches and weighs 44 to 66 pounds. The Cretan hound is very affectionate with children but needs much space to run.
