The breed is a hunting dog native to Northern Russia and Russian Siberia, also the title Karelo-finnish Laika refers to a generic name for many breeds. The relatively small Laika weighs 25 to 30 pounds and stands 15 to 19 inches tall. The Karelo-finnish Laika is very happy to hunt but also to please their family. The breed keeps their puppy excitability but throughout the dogs life, firm discipline is needed to keep the powerful Karelo-finnish Laika in line.
