Latvian Hound
During the 19th century and World War II, many different breeds were mixed to create a dog under 20 inches that could be legally used in hunting in the Latvian countries since breeds over 20 inches were illegal. The smaller sized hound weighs 35 to 45 pounds and stands 15 to 19 inches tall. Appearance wise, Latvian Hound is a general basset hound type with a strong arched back, cat feet, a wedge-shaped, tight-lipped head, and short straight legs.
