The breed is virtually unknown outside of Great Britain, but flourish in Great Britain's Great Lake district and in Yorkshire. Where the Patterdale Terrier was breed not for appearance, but for the ability to hunt rabbit, rat, and fox. Though small, the Patterdale Terrier is solid, standing around 12 inches and weighing 11 to 13 pounds. The breed does not do well with non-canine pets and needs constant obedience training. Being a working dog, The Patterdale Terrier needs a large amount of exercise and job related work.
