The Smalandsstovare is considered the oldest breed of dog from Sweden, tracing back to the 16th century, when lower class farmers first kept the breed for hunting. The small breed of scent hound weighs 33 to 44 pounds and stands 16 to 21 inches tall. The Smalandsstovare is the first choice hunting breed for Swedes while becoming very devoted and loving to its master and family.
