Bandog

Average: 4.9 (7 votes)

The breed originated between 1250 and 1300 in England where they were bred specifically to stay on a chain in the day and guard the home from intruders at night. The ferocious breed was known for losing their lives quite readily because of their ambition to attack any intruder, especially poachers. The large, muscular Bandog weighs 85 to 140 pounds and stands at 22-29 inches tall. Most suitable for experienced dog owners, the breed does well with children and families when raised among them.
