At the turn of the century in Switzerland, a smaller, short-legged scent hound was developed and called the Neiderlaufhund with three different varieties, with the most popular being the Berner Neiderlaufhund. The small scent hound weighs 17 to 33 pounds and stands 13 to 17 inches tall. The keen Berner Neiderlaufhund is quick and tenacious when on the trail, but are calm and friendly towards family members.
