Griffon Nivernais

Average: 3 (3 votes)

The breed was first kept by French noblemen and disappeared after the French Revolution but specific breeding brought back a smaller modern-day version of the breed that was basically derived from the Grand Griffon Vendéen. The medium-sized, scent hound type breed stands 21 to 24 inches tall and weighs 50 to 55 pounds. The Griffon Nivernais are very independent dogs so pack hunting is the most suitable environment for the breed.
