Hovawart

Average: 3.5 (2 votes)

The breed originated in Germany as a cross breeding of the Leonberger, the Hungarian Kuvasz, the Germany Shepherd, and the Newfoundland dog in an attempt to recreate the great estate dog of the middle ages. The large, healthy Hovawart stands 23 to 28 inches and weighs 55 to 90 pounds. The breed does well in a family environment when well socialized, but a great amount of exercise is needed to keep the dog happy and nondestructive.

Hi ChristiCan you please tell me what else Rat Terrier pelpoe need to do in order to obtain full AKC recognition? I have asked to parent Club,as well as every AKC source I can find,on numerous occasions, without a concrete answer. Portuguese Podengo entered FSS after RatTerriers and I think the registration numbers for Ratties are probably at least as high.It is extremly frustrating to be passed over without knowing why it is happening. It is imposible to fix something without knowing what the problem is.Thank you for any help you can give me.Karin Gunter
