Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic

The breed was created in the 1800s by Croatian and Slovene breeders by crossing a French Griffon Vendeen with the Istrian Shorthaired Hound that was developed as a sight and scent hound. The Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic is mostly white with simple marking and varies in size from weighing 25 to 56 pounds and standing 17 to 23 inches tall. Since specifically bred as a hunter, the breed is more challenging to train than many other breeds.
