The smallest of all native Japanese breeds, the Shiba Inu originated in Japan where they were used to hunt small game, boar, and bear. The small dog weighs between 17 and 23 pounds and stands at 13 to 17 inches tall. To gain trust and friendliness with the breed, Shiba Inu must first gain your respect.

My Shiba is named Suki .She was given to me as the couple who owned her were seperate and could keep her no longer.Suki is a wonderfull dog.I would recomend this breed for any one who has a fenced in yard and time to walk twice a day .Sheba do not like to soil their own yard .She could care less for other dogs and bores with playing "catch" easly. She can be mean to other dogs and starts fights by putting her toy in front of the other dog in a dare to pick it up . I am often asked for permision to photograph.
