Shikoku

Average: 4.8 (4 votes)

The breed is a primitive, native Japanese breed that originated on the Shikoku Islands. It is closely related to the Shiba Inu. The medium-sized Spitz type Shikoku weighs 35 to 55 pounds and stands 17 to 21 inches tall. The breed has a very high spirit and is devoted to their masters, though the Shikoku is not right for everyone. The breed takes time and effort to train and properly socialize due to their primitive nature and strong hunting drive.
