As far back as 1100 AD, the Spanish Water Dog was first introduced by the Turks sheep herders to Spanish herdsman who then used the dog to herd, hunt, and later as a big asset to fisherman. The medium-sized breed is very athletic, they stand 16 to 20 inches tall and weigh 31 to 49 pounds. The Spanish Water Dog is extremely intelligent and versatile, the breed can adapt to any environment happily with enough exercise and attention.
