Swedish Lapphund

Average: 3.5 (2 votes)

The breed originated most likely around 9000 BC in northern Scandinavia, from the land that the Sámi people call Sapmi, where the dog was used for hunting and guarding but also as a pet. The all black sight hounds weigh 24 to 36 pounds and stand 16 to 20 inches tall. The Swedish Lapphund does very well with family, children, and other pets when properly socialized, also being a moderately active breed, the dog needs a fairly large amount of exercise to remain happy.
