Basset Artesien Normand

The breed dates back to the 1600s as one of the six breeds of French basset hounds where two distinct lines where made; one for the breeds hunting abilities and the other for companionship and show dog. The Basset Artesien Normand is a smaller breed standing at 10 to 14 inches and weighing around 33 pounds. The breed has a very skillful nose and willingly takes off on scents so make sure to keep a tight leash on the animal.
