The breed originated in Italy during the 4th and 5th century where later they thrived in the middle ages as sought after hunters of feathered game. The large, freckled Bracco Italiano weighs 55 to 90 pounds and stands 22 to 29 inches tall. The breed has a very distinct solemn facial expression.
