The breed is a type of Spaniel that originated in France from the cross-breeding of an English Setter and Picardy Spaniel which led to the existence of the Epagneul Bleu de Picardie. The breed is a versatile hunting dog that uses its supreme ability to locate and retrieve game in any conditions. The blue-tint coated Epagneul Bleu de Picardie stands at 22 to 24 inches and weighs 43 to 45 pounds. The breed does well children but does need a fair amount of exercise.
