The breed is an ancient Spitz-type of dog found as far back as the stone age and are known as the oldest breed from Central Europe. While a breed of dog, the German Spitz is also a type of dog, depending on size and region of origin of the breed, which most commonly includes the Pomeranian. The standard German Spitz weighs 23 to 41 pounds and stands 11 to 14 inches tall. The breed thrives around family while being eager to please, also unlike most dogs the German Spitz loves standing on its hind legs.
