Grand Bleu de Gascogne
In 14th century France, the Grand Bleu de Gascogne were bred specifically for hunting in packs for large game, such as bears, boars, and wolves. The breed is also important in many other bloodlines of scent hounds. The blue-slate coated breed stands at 24 to 29 inches tall and weighs 80 to 120 pounds. The distinct howl of Grand Bleu de Gascogne can be herd from miles away.
