Great Pyrenee
This breed originated in Central Asia or Siberia and migrated to Europe. Receiving its name from the Southwestern European mountains, where the Great Pyrenees breed was used to guard sheep flocks. They were also prized among nobility and appointed French court dogs in the 17th century. This large breed of dog stands between 25 and 32 inches tall and weighs 85 to 100 pounds. Great Pyrenees are quite territorial, but good guard dogs.
