Karelian Bear Dog

Average: 3 (5 votes)

The ancestors of the breed are said to have appeared thousands of years ago in Karelia of northern Europe, now Finland, where natural selection made the Karelian Bear Dog strong and brave enough to hunter bear, wolf, and lynx. The energetic and powerful breed weighs 44 to 50 pounds and stand 19 to 23 inches tall. The large Karelian Bear Dog does not like to be confined, so acreage or a large yard is best suited for the breed.
