This erect-ear type of breed has been depicted on the laps of French and Spanish nobleman since the 16th and 17th century. The small, friendly Papillon stands for butterfly in French, which describes the distinct ears of the breed. This dainty dog stands at 8 to 11 inches and weighs 7 to 10 pounds.
