This breed is known as one of the oldest domesticated dogs, they were found in ancient Egypt as far back as 3000 BC. The Pharaoh Hound is famously the national dog of Malta as well. A unique characteristic of the breed is the blush of the nose and ears when excited or happy. The proud Pharaoh Hound weighs between 45 and 55 pounds and stands at an average of 23 inches. The breed is extremely athletic, so an active life style is a must for the owners.
