Porcelaine

The breed was most popular in the 1800s in Switzerland and France where they were a smaller descendant of the English Harrier. The Porcelaine actually disappeared during the French Revolution, but today is attempting to be reconstructed with 14 puppies bred in the UK. The breed stands 21 to 23 inches tall and weighs 55 to 62 pounds. The Porcelaine gets its name from its shiny coat, making it look like a porcelain statue. The breed has an extremely high activity level so apartment living is not recommended due to the large need for exercise. Though active, the breed does well with families.
