Skye Terrier
Known as one of the oldest breed of Terriers, the Skye Terrier originated in the Isle of Skye off of the west coast of Scotland, where they were bred to destroy vermin, guard homes and to locate small game. One famous Skye Terrier, Greyfriars Bobby guarded his master's tomb for 14 years until he died at the age of 16. Later a statue was resurrected in the dog's honor. The rare, medium-sized dog stands an average of 10 inches and weighs between 25 and 40 pounds.
