Sloughi

It is speculated the the breed came from the Orient or modern day Ethiopia during 3000 BC, where today the Sloughi is still used in its native countries as a hunting and guard dog. The sighthound breed weighs 35 to 65 pounds and stands 24 to 28 inches tall. The Sloughi is well adapted to desert life and prefers to live in the same climates; the breed does well with family, children, and other animals when properly raised among them but the hunting instinct is still quite strong within the breed.
