Tyrolean Hound

Average: 5 (1 vote)

The breed is thought to be a descendant from the Celtic hounds in 1860 where the Tyrolean Hound was used for hunting hare and fox and tracking wounded game. The medium sized scent hound weighs 33 to 48 pounds and stands 16 to 19 inches tall. The Tyrolean Hound is kept almost exclusively for hunting, making them not suitable for most families that are in the mood for just a pet. The breed is extremely active and not suited for apartment life, a large yard or farm is best for the Tyrolean Hound to roam free.
