The breed was developed in the British Isles in the 17th century to go to ground and chase foxes and other small animals from their dens. The predominately white Wirehaired Fox Terrier stands at an average of 15 inches tall and weighs an average of 18 pounds. The breed is bold, but not aggressive towards humans.
